Prayer Request

I am feeling led right now to ask you to pray for the children and families stuck right now in the Guatemala Adoption Process. Many of these families have been matched with a child for almost 2 years and are still waiting to bring them home. Because of corruption, Hague issues and an overall lack of organization on the part of the process they are just stuck in limbo. I know of at least 2 families who switched to the Guatemala process from China in January of 2006. One of those families is still working to bring their little one home. I am not sure about the other family. But I just wanted to give our prayer warriors one more request to lift up today. And to lift up the international adoption process in general as it seems to be getting attacked from all sides lately. Just keep all families embarking on this journey in your prayers. And for the children who are desperately waiting for their mommys and daddys to bring them home.

Thankful Thursday!

I haven't done one of these in a while, so I guess it is about time....

1. Thankful that Charlotte was found eligible for Special Education Preschool in the fall. (she will be going to Jay's school and working with an awesome teacher!)

2. Thankful for grandparents near by who are always ready to help and watch the grandkids.

3. Thankful for friends who I completely trust and can be open and honest with about anything.

4. And as always I am thankful for my incredible husband who is always supportive of me (our 10 year anniversary is coming up on Aug. 8th can't belive it)

5. Thankful for Ethan and Charlotte who always make me laugh and smile and for being able to spend the whole summer at home with them.

6. Lastly thankful for all of you who read this blog and pray for us. I have met so many wonderful people through this adventure and I am thankful for each one of you.

Of course, Ethan has always loved swimming and is the king of the cannon ball. We are just enjoying being a family of four. God is good!!

SCC back in concert

I have been following Steven Curtis Chapman and his family since his daughter's passing on May 21st. I have been praying for this family each day. Friday was the first performance he gave since the tragedy. I found some you tube videos of that performance and have posted them here. What courage it must have taken to walk out on that stage. I also follow his manager's blog which is linked in my sidebar. He and his family will be appearing on Good Morning America the week of Aug. 4th as well as on Larry King Live. There is also a People Magazine story featuring the family coming out in Aug. I just think it is awesome how this family has chosen to use their struggle to bring more awareness of adoption to the world. Keep praying for them.

Lazy Days

Okay, I know I have been bad about blogging this week. We have just had fun hanging out as a family. I have also been working on scrapbooks, believe it or not. I have all my pics organized and I even completed a couple of layouts. I did post an update on our baby jellybeans site, which you can check out. It was kind of neat to list all of the things Charlotte can do now. So much more than 8 months ago. She also is using a sippy cup instead of the syringe feeding, which is not on the update. We had out post-op appointment on Saturday, and were cleared to go back to a "normal" eating plan. I say normal as we are still struggling with solid foods. But one step at a time. She will drink milk from a spoon and eat ice-cream which is a step forward. I will be diving into the solid foods here in the next week. Backing off on formula and just giving her milk and pediasure to make her more hungry. So pray for strength for me and for comfort for Charlotte. I don't want to make eating such a battle, but I don't really have much of a choice at this point. And my summer is quickly coming to an end, and I need to focus on this while I am at home with her all day every day. Okay, well I will try to be better this week about posting. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your families.

Cousins

On Friday we had Alexis and Austin, my niece and nephew over to play. We had a fun time, playing outside and in the pool. Here are a couple of pictures from our day.

Happy July 4th - a couple days late!!!

So I tried and tried to get some pics of Sha Sha on her first Independence day. I took the camera with me to a cook-out at Jay's parents, and thought I was getting some awesome shots. When I went to look at them on the camera, I realized I did not have my card in-ARGH!! So then I tried to take some after nap time, but Charlotte was not in the mood. I did get a few good shots when we played with Sparklers though. We had a nice day at home and Ethan and Charlotte loved our own little Fireworks. Happy 4th!!!

Ethan and the Mayor

Ethan was invited to attend the induction ceremony for our City's new Mayor, Dr. Krasnoff. Ethan got to know Dr. K when he was a Guidance Counselor Intern at our school. When he decided to run for mayor, he asked if Ethan would pose in a picture with him for a campaign flyer. You only saw the back of Ethan's head in the flyer but still pretty cool. After Dr. K won the election, the next day he came to school and asked to see Ethan. He thanked Ethan for his help in the campaign and gave him an autographed flyer. Then yesterday he called Jay at work to invite Ethan to the induction ceremony. What a cool honor, I know I say it all the time but so many other people see the neat spirit our little boy has!!! So if are in Chesapeake and need something done, let Ethan know, he is friends with the Mayor.
